The house is a three bed roomed bungalow so good for people who are not so mobile. Parking is across the road from the house and there is a straight path to the back door, where there is one door step to the back door. There is a path around the house to the front door and similarly one door step into the house.
The kitchen is modern and well equipped and catches the sun in the evening so a good place to eat. All the electrical equipment is new and functions well. Modern appliances in kitchen include, a cooker with electric hob and two ovens, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher. We are aiming to create a home from home.
The living room is a typical croft house with an entrance from the kitchen and an exit to the hallway. It has a very large window and the room is always bright. It is possible to eat in the living room as well as the kitchen. There is a TV with DVD player, CD player and books and games available. There are information folders in the bookcase covering a wide variety of subjects and books and maps on the island. The maps do have a tendency to disappear so I know they are well used!
The open fire is very effective and a great place to sit in the evening.
The main bedroom faces the south and also has a large window and great views. At the moment it has two single beds but at some point we will put the double bed in here as our plan is to create an en suite. It has been recently re-painted and has new beds and a new carpet (2017).
The other two bedrooms are towards the back of the house and both were re-decorated in 2016. One has a double bed and the other two single beds. The single beds are new and the double bed has a new mattress and base. The twin room also has a new carpet. There are cupboards for hanging clothes in two bedrooms and wardrobe in the double room. There are also other storage facilities in the rooms. All beds have electric blankets and linen is provided.
The bathroom is a typical croft house bathroom with a shower over the bath. It is also been renovated and modernised. The bathroom is suitable for a small wheelchair only.
There are two porches back and front and they provide storage for jackets and boots etc.
On a sunny day it is good to use the front door and sit outside in the sheltered seating area, where you can survey most of Carloway.
Take a walk down the croft (gate opposite the house) and see the old family blackhouse or go through the gate at the washing line to walk toward the coast and beach at Dalmore.
Parking is currently opposite the house.
