A very warm welcome to the 27 Garenin website. We are a self catering bungalow in the unique village of Garenin on the West coast of the Isle of Lewis.

Recently refurbished and renovated with modern facilities and equipment (including Wi-Fi) the house is on a croft in the village of Garenin, in Carloway, Isle of Lewis. The house is just 5 minutes from the sea and the restored Blackhouse village with museum and café, plus excellent views over Carloway. Lewis is a vibrant community and offers a great deal for visitors. There are many activities and interests which you can pursue whether these are about the natural and unspoilt landscape, community activities, cultural activities, or those of a historical or archaeological interest to name a few. .....

The house was build in 1951 and is typical of many homes built at that time. My family are from the island and the culture and language are an important reason to retain the house in an island, which is simultaneously changing and unchanging.
Lewis families typically retain links with the community although dispersed over many countries......

The island has a unique beauty and diversity of natural landscapes and unspoilt habitats. Garenin is a small crofting community on the Atlantic west coast. Being on an island and at the vagaries of nature brings a sense of perspective and visitors often comment on that. It is healthy to be away from the pressures of modern life and to experience the endless long days in the summer and the northern lights in colder days.....
